Two hours prior to recording this video my day started an hours drive from where I needed to be for the shoot, but something was off. Way off.

I had a high fever, muscle aches, upset guts, and one of the first headaches I’ve ever had in my life. The cough was not good either.

I checked out of the conference hotel room, packing as fast as I could, realizing my condition was likely to get worse by the hour. I was thinking about all the people I had interacted with the day before, some text messages would need to be sent.

Once home I cleaned up, suited up, and shot this segment as part of my regular Tuesday live show/podcast.

I then slid down onto the floor, wrapped myself in a blanket, and didn’t move for hours. Later that evening I’d test positive for Covid. My first experience.

Why do I share this tidbit?

Because no matter what we are faced with we often are able to power through on sheer willpower alone. Sometimes you have no choice, you have to deliver. You have 100+ people scheduled, and it’s just easier to deliver the goods than to manage the fallout, questions, calls, texts, emails, DM’s etc.

So…

What do you not feel like doing today?

What do you want to get out of doing this week?

Is it truly worth the doing of the not doing?

Or is it easier; less drama, less work, less energy drained, to simply deliver?

Most times we are better off simply sticking to our original commitments, despite the temptation to lean into any excuse, big or small, to try and escape.
