Stephen S. Poloz served as the 9th Governor of the Bank of Canada from June 3, 2013 to June 2, 2020.

Born in Oshawa, Ontario, Mr. Poloz graduated from Queen’s University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He received a master’s degree in economics in 1979 and a PhD in economics in 1982, both from the University of Western Ontario. In 2017, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Trent University.

Mr. Poloz first joined the Bank of Canada in 1981 and occupied a range of increasingly senior positions over a 14-year span, culminating in his appointment as Chief of the Bank’s Research Department in 1992. After his departure from the Bank in 1995, he spent four years at BCA Research, where he served as managing editor of its flagship publication, The International Bank Credit Analyst.

Brad is one of Canada’s thought leaders on portfolio construction and has over 25 years of experience as a strategist and portfolio manager for high net worth clients. He began his career as an Investment Advisor before progressing to a Portfolio Strategist role. Brad then advanced to the role of President and Portfolio Manager, and was most recently the Chief Hedge Fund Strategist at a Toronto-based asset management firm.

As Chief Economist, Bob Dugan leads a cross-country team of housing economists and researchers who strive to improve understanding of trends in house prices and how they impact affordability, all with an eye to supporting CMHC’s aspiration of housing affordability for all by 2030.

Bob has an Honours B.S.Sc Economics degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Arts in Economics from Carleton University. Married with four children, he and his family enjoy an active lifestyle that includes a range of summer and winter sports. Bob is also lead guitarist in a band with CMHC colleagues.

Ivan Wanis Ruiz is a communications expert with a unique background. Originally trained in facilitation by the Ministry of Attorney General in British Columbia he has since become an Advanced Toastmaster Gold, Certified trainer for the Dale Carnegie Business group and holds a certificate in Adult education. He is also a trained actor and has been featured in films like Rise of the Planet of the Apes and guest starred on TV shows such as Conviction and Supernatural to name a few.
